Dark Room VR Review

Introduction

Dark Room VR sells itself as "a hidden room full of the deepest and darkest dreams", with "no fake smiles and false emotions". The plan page makes a plainer promise: 4 new scenes per month. I counted the catalog, and the plain promise is the one it keeps. Since 6 January 2023 a new scene has gone up every Friday, 197 weeks in a row to 9 October 2026, without a single gap. The darkness is harder to find. The site's tag list has no bondage, femdom or BDSM tag at all, and spanking sits on 3 scenes. What has grown is stepfamily roleplay. From 2021 to 2023 only 3 of 174 scenes carried a taboo or step tag; in 2025 it was 46 of 52.

It's a standalone studio with no network and no bonus sites in the price. The tour says its performers come from Europe and the US, and billing runs through Epoch and Centrobill. Virtual Taboo is paid out through the same affiliate program and uses the same two billers, but it's sold as a separate membership.

How I checked: the tour, the plan page, the tag list and the model index are from 23 September 2026. I rechecked the monthly price at our link on 9 October and read the site's how-to-watch page on 11 October. The full scene catalog was crawled on 11 October 2026, and every count below is as of that day. I haven't watched as a member or in a headset, so players, headsets and the member area are described from the site's own pages.

Content Quality

An eight, earned mostly by the schedule. Almost four years of one scene every Friday, with no week missed, is the most reliable thing about the site, and the yearly average runtime has stayed between 37 and 41 minutes in every full year. It stops at eight for two reasons. The cast hardly repeats, and the studio now makes mostly one kind of scene. If stepfamily roleplay isn't your thing, the last two years will feel thin.

Technical Experience

The files carry this score. All 329 scene pages in our crawl list a 7260x3630 10-bit file, from the first release in December 2020 to the newest, so there's no low-resolution back catalog to dig through. Downloads are unlimited on every plan. It stops at eight. The ceiling is 7K, not the 8K we want for a ten, the site offers no streaming to a PC headset, the pages never state a frame rate, and there are no toy scripts anywhere in the catalog.

User Interface and Navigation

The top bar holds Newest, Best scenes, Models, Tags and a search box. Sorting stops at newest or best by month, by year or of all time, and tags come as one flat list you can't combine. Tagging also changed partway: the POV tag covers 270 scenes and stops in November 2025, the month before position tags like Doggystyle first appear. The tour's Top rated row is six scenes from December 2020 to April 2021, so a newcomer's first look is at the studio's oldest work. On a 390 pixel phone screen nothing spills sideways, but 25 of the 66 tap targets are too small for a thumb.

Value for Money

A year at $139.99 is fair for a studio that has shipped one 7K scene every week since 2023, and lifetime at $250 costs less than two years. It's still the priciest year of the three in the comparison below that offer one, and the monthly plan charges more than twice the year's monthly rate.

Catalog and Cast

329 scenes, from 22 December 2020 to 9 October 2026. The studio launched with 10 scenes in the last days of 2020 and ran 61 in both 2021 and 2022, when some weeks had a Tuesday release on top of the Friday one. Since then it's been Friday only: exactly 52 in each of 2023, 2024 and 2025, and 41 so far in 2026. The last twelve months added 52 scenes, 4.33 a month, a hair over the plan page's promise.

Scenes average 39 minutes. 53 of them run 45 minutes or longer, and the longest is the 60-minute Stepdaddy Knows What He Wants For Xmas from December 2024. This year's releases average 37 minutes, and the shortest is 27.

The six scenes the tour pushes as top rated have titles like You Will Learn The Lesson, Bitch, Landlord's Rules and Ready To Serve You, and all six are from December 2020 to April 2021. The Family sex tag first shows up on 24 November 2023. Since then the taboo and step tags have spread to 100 of the 329 scenes, including 31 of the last 52, with titles like Stepdaddy, Don't Go! and Let Me In. The rest leans young and POV: Teen sits on 261 scenes, Young girl on 250, Cowgirl on 315 and Blowjob on 318. Threesomes and group scenes appear on 19 of the last 52. Anal is down to 28 scenes in total, and only one of them, from 13 March 2026, came in the last twelve months. MILF has 30. There's no 2D bonus.

The cast is wide and shallow. 265 performers are credited, and 190 of them have one scene. Nobody has more than seven. Lia Lin leads with 7, the last in February 2025, followed by Scarlett Jones with 6 and Sophie Weber and Sia Siberia with 5 each. Over the last twelve months 49 different names appeared and none more than twice. The model index opens on Natasha Teen, Mona Blue, Sharon White, Lika Star, Freya Mayer and Emily Mayers. If you follow one performer, expect a scene or two of her here.

Video Quality and Devices

Every scene page lists the same download ladder: 7260x3630 10-bit (7K), 6144x3072 10-bit (6K), 5400x2700 in a 10-bit and a standard version (5K), 3840x1920, a 2880x1440 file for PSVR, a second 2880x1440 and 1920x960. For PlayStation VR the how-to page says the file name must end in _180_sbs.mp4 for Littlstar to find it. Scene pages state neither field of view nor frame rate.

313 scenes carry the 7K tag. The other 16, released between 7 November 2025 and 17 April 2026, have no resolution tag on the scene page, yet each still lists the 7260x3630 file, and the listing cards I saw for them show a 7K badge. The resolution block below this review counts them as unlabelled. On a PC the 5K, 6K and 7K 10-bit files need HEVC codecs, per the how-to page.

For headsets I only have the site's pages, and they don't agree with each other. The tour lists Apple Vision Pro (spelled "Apple Pro Vision"), Meta Quest 3 and 2, Oculus Rift, Go and Quest, PSVR, HTC Vive, Gear VR, Daydream, iOS and Android. The plan page says Oculus, Gear VR and modern smartphones. The how-to page, the only one with steps, covers phones, PC headsets, PlayStation VR, Oculus Go and Quest 1 and 2. Phones and Quest stream in the browser or play downloads. PC headsets get no streaming at all, only downloads. PSVR is download only, through the Littlstar app from a USB stick. The site has no app of its own and tells you to use any VR player. I found nothing about Quest 3, PSVR2, Vision Pro, Pico or passthrough beyond the tour's list, and no toy scripts. Scene pages are public with a free sample download, so you can test a file on your own headset first.

Pricing and Billing

From the US checkout on October 9, 2026.

Four plans, no trial, and every one includes unlimited streaming and downloads. The month is $24.99, three months $49.99, a year $139.99 and lifetime $250, which the card calls "Pay once, use forever". The year card prints $11.66 a month; $139.99 over twelve months is $11.67, so it rounds down a cent.

Twelve monthly payments come to $299.88, so the year saves $159.89. Four quarters cost $199.96, $59.97 more than the year. Lifetime equals 1.79 years of the annual price and pays for itself during the second year. Over the last twelve months, $139.99 bought 52 new scenes, about $2.69 each.

The tour says "Join Right Now and Get 75% Discount", and on 11 September the plan page really did sell the month for $10.00 marked 75% off. On 16 and 23 September, and at our link on 9 October, the month was $24.99 marked 40% off, next to 58% and 70% off on the longer plans, always against a price the page never prints. The three longer plans are as of 23 September.

The three-month and twelve-month cards say "Billed as" the full price and don't say whether they renew. The terms say that after a term ends "you may renew your membership by making a new payment", which reads like a one-off charge, but I didn't go past the plan page to the biller, so I can't confirm it. The 23 September join page shows only card and PayPal, both through Epoch. The PayPal option puts it on our list of VR porn sites that take PayPal. There are no add-on checkboxes. The one box on the form, consent to email updates and discounts, comes pre-ticked, so untick it if you don't want the mail. To cancel, the plan page sends you to Epoch or Centrobill, whichever billed you.

Who Should Buy It

Buy the year if stepfamily and taboo roleplay in POV is what you're after, you'd rather download a 7K file than stream, and a scene that lands every Friday matters more to you than catalog size.

Skip it if you came for actual BDSM, because the tag list has none. Skip it too if you want anal, which is down to one scene in the past year, or a favourite performer in depth, since 190 of 265 appear once. On a PC headset you'll have to download every scene, because there's no stream. And whatever you decide, skip the monthly plan.

I picked two taboo studios and one big 8K studio as a price anchor. Virtual Taboo shares the theme and the billers and dwarfs Dark Room VR on volume, about 1,465 scenes and about 155 in the last twelve months, but its scenes average 24 minutes against 39 here, and its year is $40 cheaper at $99.99 with the same $250 lifetime. Taboo VR Porn is the opposite trade: 155 scenes, a 63-minute average and $14.95 a month, with no yearly plan. VR Bangers has 899 scenes in 8K at 42 minutes and the cheapest year of the four at $83.40. Dark Room VR leads on none of these numbers. Its case is a Friday release that hasn't slipped since January 2023 and a 7K file on every scene since the first.

Final Verdict

Dark Room VR keeps its practical promises to the letter: one 7K scene every Friday since January 2023 and unlimited downloads on every plan. The "darkest dreams" pitch is the part that's out of date. The scenes that earned the studio its name are from 2021, and since late 2023 it has turned into a stepfamily roleplay site. If that's your taste, the year at $139.99 or lifetime at $250 is a fair buy; download a free sample first to check the file on your headset. If you came for real kink, look elsewhere.
